Pipe Repair Services

Problems with pipes in homes can sometimes go undetected for a while. Many pipe problems start behind walls or underneath floors, making them hard to notice. However, some signs you may need immediate pipe repair services from a trusted professional plumber include:

Signs of mold or mildew growth:

  • Water stains
  • Wet walls or ceilings
  • Higher than normal water bills
  • Odors or reduced water pressure
  • Moisture at the foundation of your home
  • Pooling water around the home (exterior)

In many cases, isolated leaks can be fixed with advanced pipe repair services. While no two plumbing issues are exactly alike, our qualified team knows what to look for to identify the root cause. Once we perform an assessment, we’ll be able to determine if a repair is feasible to address the problem.

For smaller leaks, we may remove damaged sections of pipes and install new piping/fittings to restore a watertight connection. Burst pipes also require immediate attention, which involves removing the damaged section of the pipe and replacing it with new material. We make every effort to use your existing piping and provide cost-effective repairs. Some of the most common pipe issues we can repair include:

  • Burst pipes
  • Slab leaks
  • Underground water line leaks
  • Pinhole leaks
  • Crawl space pipe leaks
  • Frozen pipe damage
  • Leaking water supply lines

Does Your Home Need Repiping?

While we may make every effort to repair your pipes, some older homes may have plumbing systems that cannot be repaired. In some cases, a new plumbing system may be a smarter long-term investment for your home (especially if future pipe issues seem likely). In neighborhoods with older homes (built in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, for example), it’s common for recurring leaks and corrosion to occur. In these cases, we may recommend repiping as an alternative solution.

Cary’s changing weather conditions can also contribute to problems with pipes in older homes. This area is prone to very hot and humid summers, but also has rough winters. Changing weather conditions can cause pipes to expand and contract over time, leading to wear and tear that may require repiping services. Whether we determine that you need a simple pipe repair or a total repiping, our qualified team is here to guide you through each step of the process.

Difference between PEX and copper for a whole-home repipe?
Pipes are either PEX or rigid copper during a complete repipe. PEX is preferable because it is pliable, has no internal degradation from chlorine, does not develop pinhole leaks like aging copper pipe, and can be pulled through wall cavities with far less damage to drywall than other repiping methods. Our standard is PEX. Copper is much stronger but also much more expensive, and it makes repiping methods even more destructive. We will review your specific situation and provide our recommendation.
Yes, absolutely. We take care of permitting and approvals processes with the Town of Cary’s Inspections and Permits Department. All new lines will pass the necessary pressure tests and be prepared for final municipal code inspections. Compliance is important to consider in the future, especially if you plan to sell the house later. Compliance will help protect your house’s value by ensuring it passes future home inspections.
Identifying the root cause is the first step in any troubleshooting procedure. Some problems, for example, a pipe punctured by someone taking a shot with a nail gun, or frost-fractured pipes resulting from extreme cold weather, can be done relatively easily with documentation and without the risk and effort of widespread frozen weather. Patchwork solutions may be enough to buy you time in such cases. However, you’re better off completely replacing the pipes with copper or polybutylene piping if you’ve experienced multiple slab leaks or numerous pinhole leaks. Repiping is the best solution for larger problems, and frequent repiping should be avoided.
If your house was built between 1978 and 1995, and especially if it is located in some of the older Cary neighborhoods like Lochmere, there is a good chance polybutylene (PB) pipes were used. These pipes are typically flexible, grey plastic piping. Look for leaks around water heaters, sinks, or main water line entries. Even if pipes may seem completely fine on the outside, they can corrode internally from chemicals in municipal water and crack over time, causing flooding.
